Water conservation Bylaw in effect from May 1 through September 30
As customers of the CRD, we are required to follow their Stage 1 Watering Schedule. The Water Conservation Bylaw 4099 for the Regional Water Supply System (Greater Victoria) is in effect from May 1 through September 30, each and every year, unless more stringent water conservation measures are required.
Highlights of CRD Bylaw 4099:
Residential Lawns and Gardens
Lawns may be watered between 4 a.m. and 10 a.m. or 7:00 p.m. and 10 p.m. but not every day. Even-numbered addresses may water lawns on Wednesday and Saturday. Odd-number addresses may water lawns on Thursday and Sunday.
Trees, shrubs, flowers, and vegetables may be watered on any day but if you use a sprinkler, only in the morning and evening time slots described for lawn watering.
If watering trees, shrubs, flowers, and vegetables is done with a hand-held container, a hand-held hose equipped with an automatic shut-off nozzle, or by Micro-irrigation or Drip-irrigation systems, it may be done outside of the times prescribed for lawn watering.
Residential General Outdoor uses
Wash vehicles with a hand-held container or hand-held hose equipped with an automatic shut-off nozzle. Sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, exterior windows, or exterior building surfaces may be washed with a power washer or hand-held hose equipped with a shut-off valve.
